Calhoun County CERT Team

The Minimum Requirements and Levels are:

 

Tier One:  Awareness Level:

At this level, members will use their training to better prepare themselves and to help their families during an emergency or disaster.  Each graduate will receive an All-hazards radio.  They are welcome to attend any additional training provided, but are not required to attend monthly meetings/training.   Background checks are not required for this level.


Tier Two:  Community Emergency Response Team Level: 

This level requires a background check conducted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.   This level of participation will provide continued training that will enable the member to help themselves, their families, their neighborhood and community during an emergency or disaster.   At this level of commitment, CERT members volunteer to assist Calhoun County emergency response personnel during an actual large-scale emergency or disaster.   Volunteer opportunities also include assignment to Public Information, Damage Assessment Teams, EOC Operations, Resource management and Distribution, etc.    Each graduate will receive an All-hazards radio and a CERT backpack that contains supplies needed to help in rendering care during a disaster.   Each Tier Two member will be placed on the Calhoun County CERT alert list for possible activation.   These individuals are scheduled to attend routine training sessions, typically held once a month.
